Melinda West is a singer, pianist, director, and organist at Holy Trinity parish. She has been studying and performing liturgical music for over twenty years, serving as a music director and accompanist at numerous other parishes.
She is an accomplished accordionist, with credits at the Hollywood Bowl and LA Philharmonic. She plays often at Disney California Adventure, accompanying the Klezmer-fusion band, Mostly Kosher. While studying music at UCLA, she started the award-winning band, We the Folk, and was a composer and music director for "A Tale of Two Lilies" with a fifteen piece chamber group at UCLA's Royce Hall.
She is a singer-songwriter of a band featuring her original songs, Sugar Rum Tantrum, which is an accordion-fronted high-energy folk band that tours and records regularly.
She loves music-oriented community outreach. Her violin-accordion troubadour duo, Zingarella, has performed as a part of Cafe Europa's outreach to Holocaust survivors, and at Skid Row as part of Midnight Mission. They have also enjoyed numerous Skirball Cultural Center performances and Hanukkah celebrations. Melinda also supports female-fronted music movements in Los Angeles, and has participated in immersive performance art ensembles like Lucent Dossier.
