In Loving Memory of: Brooke Sailer (2012–2023)
Brooke Sailer lived her life with love, faith, courage, and curiosity. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church who lost her battle with pediatric cancer at the young age of 10. Brooke was funny, sweet, always positive, and wise beyond her years. She loved animals, and she loved to learn. When a family friend gifted her a backyard garden filled with milkweed and blooms, she learned how to find larvae on milkweed and nurture caterpillars into chrysalises in her indoor habitat. Over the years she released more than 100 Monarch butterflies into the nearby skies. Nurturing the caterpillars into butterflies provided her with passion and purpose as she persevered through her chemotherapy treatments, giving her something to look forward to as the butterflies began their new lives.
This garden is dedicated to Brooke’s memory, her love of nature, and her gift of wonder. It invites Holy Trinity students and the community to share in her passion for butterflies and her beautiful enduring spirit that continues to live on.
