The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has launched the “Forward in Mission” Jubilee Year in honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of Mission San Gabriel Archangel, the birthplace of Christian faith in Los Angeles.

This historic occasion was commemorated at an outdoor prayer service with Archbishop José H. Gomez at Mission San Gabriel (428 S. Mission Drive in San Gabriel) on Wednesday, September 8th.  We prayed for spiritual renewal in our local Church during 40 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration from 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 9th through 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 11th. Gomez held the historic Jubilee Opening Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (555 W. Temple Street in Los Angeles) on Saturday, September 11th.  Mass began with the Rite of the Opening of the Holy Door on the Cathedral Plaza.
