Have you noticed? We have a beautiful new instrument in the music area. It looks like a baby grand piano but it is so much more! It’s a Yamaha Calvinova CVP-900: the top of the line in digital keyboards.
That beautiful grand piano sound you hear is actually a digital “sample” of a real 9-foot concert grand piano. There are over 800 other digital samples covering a range of percussion instruments, strings, woodwinds, brass, pianos, organs, harpsichords, and vocal effects.
Where did it come from? It was a gift from an anonymous donor. The Music Ministry is extremely grateful for having been gifted in such a way. The Calvinova is so versatile that all of our music groups are able to utilize the instrument in different ways; perfectly suiting their own specific needs. Each particular musical style can be better articulated by the variety of colors and timbres available on the instrument. The textures of sound the keyboard is capable of are limited only by the imagination of the player.
On behalf of the entire Music Ministry, thank you, our anonymous friend, with deepest gratitude for this extraordinary gift. (March 7, 2004)
