Pastor’s Installation Liturgy
Pastor’s Installation Liturgy

A reminder:  tonight we mark the 2nd anniversary of the dedication of Holy Trinity Church with a concert entitled, “Sacred Song: Dwelling of the Spirit,” presented by our Music Ministers at 7:30 p.m. in the church.  A $5.00 donation is suggested at the door.   Fr. Joe is one of the featured soloists.

The day we have been anticipating over the summer months arrives next Sunday (October 24) at 1:00 p.m. with the formal installation mass and afternoon party for Fr. Joe.  We will also include the new members of the Pastoral team: Fr. Rolly, Teresa Duran (youth minister), Rafael Venegas (pastoral intern) and Francis Aguilar (seminarian).

Msgr. Bernard Leheny, the Episcopal Vicar, will join us in the celebration.  What’s an Episcopal vicar you ask?  Until a new Bishop was named to replace Bishop Joseph Sartoris, Msgr. Leheny has been acting in his place.  That’s what an Episcopal Vicar does.  So, for the past year or so Msgr. Leheny has presided over the Sacrament of Confirmation in the San Pedro Region, performed other duties at the bishop's office, all in addition to his working in his own parish.  The word Episcopal comes from the Greek word, episkopos, which means overseer or supervisor.

Our celebration will combine our communities: the English speaking and the Spanish speaking and replace the regular 1:00 p.m. Spanish mass.  Fr. Joe has asked that it be kept simple but that it also be beautiful.  I think the liturgy we have planned will fit the bill.

We’ll also get a chance to meet some of Fr. Joe’s family , so please mark your calendars and plan to attend to show Fr. Joe our love and support. (October 17, 2004)
