Ministry Descriptions:

Altar Server Ministry
Through their baptism, the altar servers assist the priest, deacon and the parish community of Holy Trinity in the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and special liturgical celebrations.  By their actions at the altar they help to draw God’s people to an intimate celebration of the Holy Mass and to draw closer to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bible Study
Give yourself a gift of knowing and loving God in a deeper way.  Attend a Bible Study and learn how God has been drawing people to himself for thousands of years.  Learn the over-view of the entire bible through key people that prepared generations for the coming of Jesus Christ.  Learn our salvation history and how it directly relates to our own lives by great teaching and sharing.  Currently we have Bible study on Monday evenings and Tuesday mornings.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Each generation must grow to love and participate in this ritualistic prayer of Worship of God.  Our main purpose is to read scripture to our children so they can understand the teachings of Jesus.  The children read, listen, respond and pray during the Liturgy of the Word.  In this way we have them grow into a loving relationship with God so that they can become active participants in building the Kingdom of God on earth.  This takes place during the 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Masses.

Communications & Technology Committee
The primary mission of the Communications & Technology Committee is the creation and maintenance of the parish and school web sites. Our secondary mission is to use our technology know-how to improve the audio and video systems for some of our parish events. We are responsible for collecting information about upcoming parish and school events, and posting that information on the web sites. Our goal is to keep parishioners and school parents informed of all programs and events that are going on at our parish and school, to increase participation in those events, in order to create a community that is closer to Christ.

Confirmation
Confirmation at Holy Trinity is a Eucharist-driven program that seeks to prepare high-school teens for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Confirmation program catechizes Holy Trinity’s youth to be good stewards in our church community, school community, and greater community. Confirmation and Youth Ministry are coupled in the hopes to give teens a place in our Church community.

Early Childhood Program
The Early Childhood Program focuses on preschool children aged 3, 4 and 5.  The young child at this age is able to relate to the care and love of God through self-identity, nature and the love of others.  Therefore, the Early Childhood Program focuses on helping young children grow in their awareness of God; God the creator, God the Loving Parent, and God the Friend.  We are always looking for new participants in whatever way you can help, whether it be teaching, as a classroom aide, or sharing a special talent such as music with our children.

Edge
The EDGE Program at Holy Trinity is for all youth in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  At EDGE Nights we gather to eat, have fun, and pray!  EDGE is a middle-school youth ministry program designed to allow our youth to explore their Catholic faith further, and challenge them to make it relevant to their everyday lives.

Environment (Altar) Committee
Our Committee decorates the church for each liturgical season, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Ordinary Time.  We use different decorations for each liturgical season as a reminder of the season we are in and to enhance the scripture readings of the season.

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion & to the Sick
We have the privilege of administering the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass and also to the sick in the hospital or their home.  We invite you to be part of these ministries.

Faith Enrichment Library

The primary mission of the Faith Enrichment Library at Holy Trinity is to enhance the spiritual development and education of parishioners of all ages by providing and encouraging the use of materials that support the teachings of the Catholic Church.  The library also strives to strengthen the formation programs and other ministries of the parish by making available resources that supplement their efforts.  The secondary mission of the library is to make available items of interest to Catholics and material that provides wholesome reading and entertainment that is consistent with Christian values.

Holy Trinity Deaf Ministry
Holy Trinity Deaf Ministry serves the spiritual needs of the deaf individual and his/her family.  Each Saturday the 5:30 p.m. Mass is interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL).  This enables a deaf person to have communication access to the Catholic Mass and the sacred word of God.  In addition, ASL services can be provided (by request) for the RCIA program, Religious Education program, baptismal preparation class, as well as the various educational and special events offered at Holy Trinity.

Hospitality Ministry
The Hospitality Ministry of Holy Trinity hosts receptions, lunches and/or dinners for special occasions at the request of Father Sebastian, in coordination with Deacon Dennis.  Volunteers may be needed for food preparation, table set up, serving and clean up.  A roster of names of volunteers will be established and as events are scheduled, a rotation of the volunteers will begin.  The Hospitality Ministry's goal is to represent the Parish of Holy Trinity as a warm and welcoming environment.

Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass.  It is Christ who speaks when Holy Scripture is read aloud in church.  Thus, lectors are privileged to assume the role of God’s heralds in announcing the good news of salvation.  The proclamation of the scriptures fosters a greater love for the Word and deeper insight into its meaning so others can live God’s Word in their daily lives, at home and work.  New lectors attend training and receive coaching on their presentation.  If you love to read, you can proclaim the Word of God.  Consider becoming a lector.

Married Couples Club
The Holy Trinity Married Couples Club was started 60 years ago by several married couples who wanted to socialize with friends from the parish community.  Over the years more members have joined and have formed warm relationships with one another.  Our ministry is to be a social support group for adults who are members of our Holy Trinity community.  Our membership now includes widows and widowers as well as married couples.  We meet once a month for dinner and fellowship.  Members of the Married Couples Club also support our Holy Trinity community by being Eucharistic Ministers, adult choir members, CCD teachers, sacristans, money counters, and lectors.  Our Club welcomes new members.

Ministry of Consolation and Bereavement
This ministry reaches out in support to all individuals who are experiencing sorrow and grief through the death of a loved one.  The Church calls all members of the body of Christ to participation in a ministry of consolation and bereavement by praying for the dying, praying for those who have died and to comfort loved ones who mourn their loss.  This ministry assists the family in the planning of their loved one’s funeral service and are present after the burial through our grief support ministry.  The most Blessed Virgin Mary and good Saint Joseph are our spiritual companions on our pilgrim journey to eternal life.

Music Ministry
The role of Music Ministry is to enable and enhance the sung prayer of our community.  We do this at Sunday liturgies as well as in other ways, such as concerts, weddings, funerals, and other community events.  We also enjoy social activities together as well as retreat settings.
We are always looking for new people.  Almost anyone can become a choir member; cantors require special training, and most instrumentalists already have received sufficient training.  People who love music and who enjoy a fun social atmosphere will be attracted to Music Ministry.  Please consider joining us!

Outreach Ministry
The Outreach Ministry provides non-perishable and some perishable food twice monthly to those families in need within our San Pedro community.  Committed volunteers come together in the Parish Center garage on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month, year round, to pack and deliver food.  Volunteer commitment is 1 – 2 hours each month on either the first or third Saturday of the month.  The Outreach Ministry is part of the Christian Service Ministry.

Parish Renewal Ministry

The Parish Renewal Weekend Retreat held in our own Parish Center invites the attendees to re-experience and deepen their faith in God and our Church.  It is a truly renewing and revitalizing event.  Working together prior to the retreat, the ministry members take on varied tasks that allow the attendees to sit back, reflect and enjoy the weekend retreat.  It is most rewarding to see the enlightened faces of the attendees at the end of the weekend knowing our ministry has offered the attendees special blessings for their life’s journey.  Our Ministry also puts on an annual retreat reunion for all who have attended a Renewal Weekend.  We invite parishioners who have attended a Renewal Weekend to come join our ministry as it is fun and rewarding to participate in putting on our two annual events.

Peace and Justice Ministry

The Peace and Justice Ministry began with Tom Villiger around 2004.  Our focus is the Catholic Social Justice teachings, which are the same as those named in Matthew 25:  giving food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, a home to strangers, clothes to the naked, and visiting the sick and prisoners.  We track the news and try to bring information to our members and to the community about where there is a need in the world.  Where possible we take action and encourage the parish to take action to satisfy those needs. We meet every second Thursday of the month in the parish center at 7:00 p.m.

Pre-Baptism
Give your infant, toddler, or preschooler the greatest gift possible. Give your child the gift of Baptism. Life is short, so grace your child with a nurturing, loving community that will tenderly lead you and your child to a stronger loving relationship and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Infant Baptism classes are for parents and Godparents that want to raise their child in the Catholic faith. All children must be baptized before receiving any other sacrament.

RCIA
Following Jesus Christ is a life-long journey that promises to have incredible, everlasting effects on your life. Find out who you are and how much God loves you. Discover your purpose in life. Discover how to pray to God, be enlightened by God's Word and realize the many blessings God is giving you throughout your life.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for those adults who need to be Baptized, receive Confirmation and Holy Communion, the Eucharist. RCIA is also for those who are baptized in the Catholic or another Christian denomination and who would like to receive Holy Communion and be Confirmed in the Catholic faith. Adult Catholics needing to be Confirmed will also benefit from the spiritual and formative sharing of the RCIA. If you are being called by God to have a deeper relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the church, and already have your sacraments, please consider becoming a sponsor to someone discovering faith in Jesus Christ.

Religious Education Program seeks to:
• support parents in their role as primary educators of their children
• teach about Jesus Christ, our Savior and Model of Christian life
• provide opportunities for diverse prayer forms calling students to open their hearts to God's presence and activity
• develop a strong sense of belonging to the parish family, as evidenced by participation in Sunday Mass and other parish celebrations.  Prepare families for their children's first reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, thereby fostering moments of adult faith development.

Respect Life Committee
Holy Trinity’s Respect Life Committee promotes the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.  We work with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and other regional parishes to carry out our mission to support women with crisis pregnancies.  We support three local pregnancy centers, Harbor Pregnancy Center, South Bay Pregnancy Center (Torrance), and Casa De Los Angelitos (Harbor City).  The annual Mother's Day Baby Shower is one of our events.  The parish is very generous with baby items for these centers.  We are very grateful to Holy Trinity's Knitting/Crocheting Ministry, which supplies us with an abundance of priceless baby items.

Retrouvaille Marriage Help
The Retrouvaille Program consists of a weekend experience, combined with post-weekend sessions.  The main emphasis is on communication between husband and wife.  The program offers you the opportunity to rediscover each other and examine your lives together in a new and positive way.  The program is Catholic in origin.  It is not a retreat or a sensitivity group.  There are no group dynamics or group discussions on the weekend.  This is not a time for hurting; it is a time for healing.

Teen RCIA
Very similar to the Adult RCIA, teens that want to become fully initiated Catholic Christians and are not Baptized, Confirmed or have not received Holy Communion, are welcomed to sign-up for Teen RCIA. Also, teens who were baptized as infants or in another Christian denomination can sign-up for Teen RCIA to receive their Confirmation and Holy Communion. Also, teens that do not have the necessary background in religious education also benefit tremendously by attending RCIA just for their Confirmation.

Youth Ministry: Life Teen
The youth ministry program at Holy Trinity follows the theme of Life Teen, which is Leading Teens Closer to Christ. Holy Trinity’s Life Teen (HTLT) is a Eucharistdriven movement that desires to share the Catholic faith with high school teens through catechesis, social events, and fellowship. Holy Trinity’s youth ministry has a deep desire to help form leaders out of our next generation.
