My name is Father Mike Grieco (pronounced “Gree-koh”). I have been assigned to Holy Trinity to be your associate pastor as of July 1, 2014.
I am 57 years old. I was born in New Jersey, but was raised in Palos Verdes since I was a small child. My parents were founding members of St. John Fisher Church and my mother still lives on the hill. My father passed away in 2006. I have 2 older brothers and three younger sisters.
I attended public school in Palos Verdes, and graduated from Rolling Hills High School in 1975. I attended my freshman year of college at Cal State Dominguez Hills before entering St. John’s Seminary College in Camarillo in 1976. I was ordained a priest on June 18, 1983 – 31 years ago.
In 1994 I received a Master of Arts in Applied Spiritual Theology from Mount St. Mary’s College, in Los Angeles.
I have served in many parishes around Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Recently I have served at St. Frances of Rome Church in Azusa. My assignment previous to that was Santa Clara Church in Oxnard.
The areas of ministry that I enjoy the most are: working with school children, liturgy, working with engaged couples, senior citizens, pastoral counseling and spiritual direction. I am told that I am a good preacher. I really enjoy breaking open the Scriptures to try and understand the message God has for us today.
My hobbies are traveling, reading and movies. I also have an Annual Pass to Disneyland and enjoy spending time there with several priest friends. I am very lucky and have traveled much. My favorite destination is Italy and the Holy Land. I have also taken several pilgrimage groups to Israel.
Father Sebastian has told me that Holy Trinity is a warm welcoming community. I look forward to serving as your priest.
